La Bomba de Tiempo

Monday night and there is no place to go out – this won’t happen to you if you are in Buenos Aires. For night owls, our city really has everything: ice-cream at midnight, boliches that open at 1 a.m., hundreds of bars and… la Bomba de Tiempo. Every Monday evening, a percussion group called La Bomba de Tiempo gives a concert in the Ciudad Cultural Konex, together with an international guest they invite to play along with them. This week, the guest was Joe Vasconcello from Chile and we went to the Konex to be able to share our experience with you.

The first impression you get of the Konex is pretty impressing: the outside walls of the building are painted in many different colors and the inside is one big patio, surrounded by an ancient factory with one part only made of glass. Outside, people sell cold beer, empanadas and vegetarian hamburgers. Inside, there is a table soccer, you can play ping-pong and of course you can buy beer, Fernet, drinks and food. At 7 p.m., the concert starts and after a few minutes, the air is filled with the sound of more than ten different drums and other percussion instruments and the people start to dance. At 10 p.m., when the concert ends, the night is just about to start: at the exit, you can get free entries to the Club Severino, or you can go to the Afrobeat Party just 150m from the Konex. It is difficult to think of a person who wouldn’t spend a great time at La Bomba de Tiempo because everybody will find at least one thing he or she likes.
