Looking Forward to New Adventures From Buenos Aires

This is Campbell, and here is Bolivia; ‘Árbol de Piedra’. Like many of our guests Campell also was doing plans to travel around South America when he was here, and this photo he sent us says: he made it! Here is his story;

‘I’m Campbell, from Auckland, New Zealand. After five years of working in a mechanical engineering consultancy I packed my life up and left for a year in Italy without a plan. I landed on my set quickly with a job in a hostel in Genoa and enjoyed the best year of my life meeting lots of people and travelling around Europe. Fast forward three years and my lifestyle is still the same.

I’m now living in Cordoba, Argentina and was in need of leaving the country for my visa hence my trip to Uruguay and on my return I stopped here in Buenos Aires to check out the capital, to compare it to Cordoba and other Argentinian cities. Although I encountered Buenos Aires with almost continuous rain for three days I really enjoyed my time there and I didn’t let the rain stop me. My first impressions were that it’s huge, compared to Cordoba anyway, where I can walk everywhere in the city centre. The free walking tour I did helped me see the really interesting mixture of architecture side by side. Although a big city it wasn’t as rushed as other big cities I’ve visited. I really liked the San Telmo markets – both the outside part and the permanent inside part. Also La Boca is unmissable, the colourful streets and buildings are enchanting plus seeing the birthplace of tango was cool. It is also the home of the world famous Boca Juniors football team. On the other side of the city the gardens in Palermo are great to pass the time and relax in. I think like other big cities there’s always lots going on but I realise now I prefer smaller walkable cities to live but enjoy visiting the bigger ones like Buenos Aires.

Soon I’ll be leaving Cordoba for an adventure with my Argentinian girlfriend where we’ll cross into Chile then travel north to Columbia going through Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador on the way. We are going to start a blog to share advice, stories and ideas from our trip. Hopefully we will inspire others and give useful information. I would love to start my own hostel. I have now worked about a year and a half in hostels, plus I’ve stayed in many hostels. I would like to put all my experiences into building an amazing hostel to create memorable experiences for all the guests. To meet them and have interesting conversations. I want to live in a relaxed way near the beach and make everyday feel like a holiday while giving that experience to others and sharing great moments.’
